Howard Wolowitz

🔟 Howard's Top 10 Space and Engineering Favorites

Howard Wolowitz here, aerospace engineer and, yes, actual astronaut. People forget that, so I remind them. Here are my proudest achievements and favorite toys from the world of engineering.

1. 1

My trip to the International Space Station

I went to space. I'll be bringing it up for the rest of my life.

2. 2

The Wolowitz Zero-Gravity Waste Disposal System

The space station toilet. It had issues, but it's mine.

3. 3

   The Wolowitz Programmable Hand

A robotic hand built for spacewalk repairs.

4. 4

   The Mars Rover

I once drove one, and we'll leave it at that.

5. 5

   My MIT master's degree

Not a doctorate, but MIT, so back off.

6. 6

   Repairing satellites remotely

I do it on a regular basis, and I once gave the Mars rover a front-end alignment from millions of miles away.

7. 7

My telescope on the space station

NASA wanted it up there so badly they moved up my launch, and I installed the mount myself.

8. 8

   My astronaut nickname

The other astronauts picked it, not me, and it's a cereal.

9. 9

   My telescope camera mounting bracket

Without my stabilizing mount, the guys would never have made their big discovery.

10. 10

    The Soyuz capsule

People call it a lemon, but it got me to space and back.

🔟 Howard's Top 10 Movies & TV

When I'm not saving the space program, I'm on the couch with the guys arguing about superheroes. Here are the picks I'd fight for, and I've got the receipts.

1. 1

   Star Wars: The Force Awakens(2015)

We made it to opening night, and it was worth the drama.

2. 2

   Batman: The Animated Series(1992)

My favorite. Raj knows to put it on when I need cheering up.

3. 3

Back to the Future Part II(1989)

When the guys wanted to invent something from the movies, I said we had to rewatch it first. Research is research.

4. 4

   Ghostbusters(1984)

I always want to skip ahead to the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

5. 5

   Thor(2011)

Raj and I wrote a song for our band about him fighting Indiana Jones.

6. 6

   Planet of the Apes(1968)

Back when my mom wouldn't let the guys come over, I pitched a full marathon instead.

7. 7

   Game of Thrones(2011)

Our group watch is a standing date, and Bernadette's always invited.

8. 8

   Doctor Who(2005)

I've dragged my wife to a whole convention for it.

9. 9

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King(2003)

I'd happily give back any souvenir if Peter Jackson cast me as a hobbit.

10. 10

    Star Trek(1966)

The other guys watch Star Trek. As an astronaut, I live it.
