Stocking Stuffers for TV & Movie Fans (Under $25)
By Sherry, ShareTens
Stocking stuffers are sneakily hard. The big gift gets all the planning, and then it's December 22nd and you're staring at an empty stocking wondering whether socks count as a personality.
For the TV and movie fans in your life, though, there's a shortcut. You already know what they love, because they've told you. Repeatedly. Probably while quoting it. A small gift that nods to their favorite show says "I pay attention to you," and that's worth more than its size.
I'm Sherry from the ShareTens team, and here's how I'd approach stocking stuffers for superfans this year, with a few real picks from our gift guides.
What makes a great fandom stocking stuffer
Before the picks, a few things I look for:
- It actually fits. Sounds obvious, but a stocking stuffer should be small. Ornaments, mini figures, candles and mugs are the sweet spot.
- It's a "you get me" gift. The best fan gifts reference something specific, like a catchphrase, a place or a character, rather than just a logo.
- It's officially licensed when possible. Real fans notice. Many of the picks in our guides are marked officially licensed for that reason.
- It's useful or display-worthy. Something they'll drink from, hang on the tree or put on a shelf beats something that ends up in a drawer.
Picks for sitcom fans
The Office fans: The Hallmark The Office ornament shaped like the World's Best Boss coffee mug is the #1 pick in our fandom stocking stuffers guide. It's Michael's mug, sized for the tree. If someone in your house quotes Michael Scott at dinner, this one's for them.
Seinfeld fans: For a Seinfeld devotee, it's hard to beat Festivus: A Seinfeld Celebration Kit, which comes with a talking pole. A Festivus for the rest of us, airing of grievances included. It's from our under-$25 guide, so it was under $25 when we checked.
Big Bang Theory fans: The Big Bang Theory Fun with Flags T-shirt is a fun one for anyone who loved Sheldon's web show. A rolled-up tee fits in a stocking nicely, and it was also under $25 when we checked.
Picks for Gilmore Girls fans
Gilmore Girls fans are some of the most devoted people I know, and they make shopping easy.
- Hallmark itty bittys Gilmore Girls plush. There's a pocket-size Luke, flannel and all, plus a set of two with Lorelai and Rory. Tiny, soft and perfect for a stocking.
- Hallmark Gilmore Girls Stars Hollow Sign ornament. Welcome to Stars Hollow, right on the tree.
- Gilmore Girls: Luke's Diner Coffee Cup Candle. Luke's coffee, minus the no-cell-phones sign. This one comes from our under-$25 guide and was under $25 when we checked.
If you want to go all in, pair a mini plush with the candle and call it a Stars Hollow stocking. ❤️
Picks for Star Wars and Harry Potter fans
Star Wars fans: The Funko Pop! Grogu in Pram from The Mandalorian is an easy win. Grogu in his floating pram, small enough for any stocking, and loved by kids and grown-ups alike.
Harry Potter fans: The Funko Pop! Harry Potter in school robes is a classic. The Boy Who Lived, in vinyl. Our stocking stuffers guide also has several Hallmark Harry Potter ornaments, including Dobby and the Sorting Hat, if your Potter fan collects ornaments instead of figures.
How to stretch your budget
A few tips for keeping stockings fun without overspending:
- Start from a budget guide. Every pick in our fandom gifts under $25 guide was under $25 when we checked. Prices change, especially in December, so double-check before you buy.
- Go for one "hero" item. One great fan gift plus a few small treats feels more thoughtful than a pile of random things.
- Theme the whole stocking. A Seinfeld stocking, a Stars Hollow stocking, a Hogwarts stocking. Themes make even small gifts feel planned.
- Shop early. Popular licensed items can sell out as the holidays get closer.
When you're not sure what they're into
Sometimes you know someone loves TV, but you're not sure which shows are their favorites right now. That's where a Top 10 really helps. If your friend has shared a list of their favorite shows, you've basically been handed a shopping list.
You can also browse all of our gift guides, organized by fandom and occasion, to find something that fits.
Make a list your friends would envy
Here's a thought for this season. Instead of saying "oh, anything is fine" when someone asks what you want, make your own Top 10 of favorite shows or movies and share the link. It's free, it takes a few minutes, and it saves everyone a lot of guessing. Your Top 10 says a lot about you, and it might just land you the perfect stocking stuffer.
Happy shopping, and share what you love.
